We love music.
We started this band in the spring of 2013, playing acoustic guitars and singing our favourite country songs in small pubs and bars. Back then, Hayden and I already had many years of experience as musicians and performers, our roots however, were quite different. Hayden’s background was based mostly in rock, yet he had a deep down passion for bluegrass. Bluegrass music was the soundtrack of his childhood, with his dad helping him learn to play the mandolin and fiddle before the age of 5. Megan’s past experience included a whole lot of R&B and musical theatre (if you’ve ever been around us after a gig, there’s a good chance you’ve heard her belting out disney songs.). We both felt that we could so some pretty special things while working together, so we decided that we should give something new, this band, a real shot.
A small acoustic project, focused on tight harmonies and feel good country music, became what we both wanted to focus on. It not only felt like the right next step for both of us musically, it just felt… happy.
Since then we’ve grown as a band, as performers, and as songwriters. Our little acoustic trio has become a blazing 6-Piece electric country band. The small bar stages have paved the way to us playing in one of BC’s biggest country music festivals and holding a house gig at the best live-music Country Saloon on the west coast. Following our passion has started to take us down a path that has not only already provided us with amazing experiences, but has made us so excited for what the future holds: We’ve played to 10,000 people going crazy for their favourite cover songs, and had the opportunity to write our own music and play it as an opening act for amazing and established Canadian country artists.
Like we said, we sure do love music. But this project is more than that for us. While we have a passion for performing, we both agree that the true payoff for us both is reaching through to the crowd, big or small, and sharing something with them.
