The music scene on Salt Spring Island is legendary – a number of well-known musicians make Salt Spring their home and occasionally you will see a famed performer who is also a local resident on stage at the Fall Fair or local venue, jamming with friends.

Besides the wealth of professional musicians in the rock, folk, jazz and classical genres, the local talent is fantastically entertaining.

You can hear great performers during the day at Centennial Park during the Saturday Market, sit beneath the historical plum tree in the heart of Ganges any night in the summer and listen to the live music at The Tree House Café, or take in a national touring act at our community soft-seat venue Art Spring. Other places for great live music include  Harbour House Hotel and The Local. You might find yourself dancing on the boardwalk in front of the harbour in Ganges to the tunes at Shipstones Waterfront Pub on a warm summer night. You can’t get a better mix of music and atmosphere!

A number of other “character” venues around the island make charming and unique settings for shows you won’t soon forget: Beaver Point Hall, Mahon Hall, Fulford Hall, Salt Spring churches with their beautiful acoustics and atmosphere, “house concerts” in peoples’ living rooms, all play a part in making the community vibrant for artists and audiences. Visiting musicians can stock up on strings and supplies at Acoustic Planet Music Store.
