TRAVELLING TO SALT SPRING
GETTING HERE IS MORE THAN HALF THE FUN! START PLANNING YOUR TRIP RIGHT HERE!
The scenery alone makes traveling to Salt Spring Island worth the trip.
It is the most accessible of the Gulf Islands whether coming from Vancouver, Victoria, northern Vancouver Island or Seattle. Though it is an island, Salt Spring is relatively simple to get to – once you have a plan!
Choose a leisurely ferry passage through the Southern Gulf Islands or jaw-dropping aerial views and the speed and convenience of catching a sea plane. Pleasure boaters love visiting our island which offers over 300 slips all near service, shopping and dining in Ganges Village.
International flights land at Vancouver International Airport, a short drive to Tsawwassen ferry terminal connecting to Long Harbour. You can also arrive via the Victoria International Airport, a short drive to Swartz Bay ferry terminal on Vancouver Island and the departure point for the 35 minute ferry to Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring. If you are arriving from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo, a 45-minutes drive gets to you Crofton and a 20-minute crossing gets you onto “paradise island”. Watch for seals, pilot whales, sea otters, sea lions and whales!
The Salt Spring Bus daily service meets most ferries and will transport you throughout the island. The buses are equipped to carry bicycles and all your gear! 1-250-538-4282.
